Aurum Lodge is located 40km East of Banff National Park,
or 45km West of Nordegg, off Highway 11.




Aurum Lodge is situated at Whitegoat Lakes, in the eastern front ranges of the Rocky Mountains in the Province of Alberta at an elevation of 1,350 m (4,500 ft). The site of Aurum Lodge overlooks Lake Abraham and is surrounded by forests and mountain peaks.

• Edmonton: 4 hours/350 km (220 miles)
• Banff: 2 hours/175 km (110 miles)
• Jasper: 2 hours/200 km (125 miles)
• Lake Louise: 1 1/2 hours/125 km (75miles)
• Red Deer: 2 1/2 hours/230 km (140 miles)


From Edmonton, head South-West towards Rocky Mountain House (Hwy 2 or 22). From Rocky Mountain House, take Hwy 11 West towards Banff National Park to Nordegg (this is the Explorer Trail or David Thompson Highway). Continue on Hwy 11 past the Bighorn Indian Reserve, the Bighorn Dam road and drive along the shore of Lake Abraham. The turn-off to the lodge is 44 km past Nordegg, on the lake side of the road, just after Cline Creek (before the David Thompson Resort / Campground).

From Calgary, you can head North-West to Rocky Mountain House and proceed as above or head West to Banff and proceed as indicated hereafter (depending on weather, road conditions and time available).

From Banff, head North to Lake Louise on the Trans-Canada (Hwy 1) and then turn onto Hwy 93 towards Jasper (Icefield Parkway * ). Follow the Icefield Parkway* over Bow Summit to Saskatchewan River Crossing (75 km) and then turn onto Hwy 11 to head East toward Rocky Mountain House. Pass Whirlpool Point, Kootenay Plains and Cline River, on the highway along Lake Abraham. 2 km after the David Thompson Resort / Campground, turn right. We are 45 km from the Crossing.

From Golden, head to Lake Louise and proceed as above.

From Jasper, head South on Hwy 93 (Icefield Parkway * ) past the Columbia Icefield to the Saskatchewan River Crossing. Turn left (East) onto Hwy 11 toward Rocky Mountain House. Pass Whirlpool Point, Kootenay Plains and Cline River, on the highway along Lake Abraham. 2 km after the David Thompson Resort / Campground or 45 km from the Crossing, turn right.

Highway 11 between Banff Park and Rocky Mountain House is an area rich in wildlife. Please drive defensively, especially at dawn or dusk and during night time, to avoid collisions with deer, elk, moose, wild horses or other animals!

* In Winter, check driving conditions on the Icefield Parkway ahead of time.
